5 ways to keep your home ‘dust-free’ – and reduce how often you clean
While cleaning your home is a boring but rewarding chore, it can be dishartening to see more dust has appeared within days of doing a big deep clean.
Dust originates from a variety of sources, both inside and outside the home. Common components include dead skin cells, pet dander, hair, fabric fibers, pollen, and particles from soil and pollution, makig it diffcult to avoid.
However, one woman has come to rescue as she claims she’s found the best solution for keeping your home dust free for a whole month by following her go-to method.
“Five ways you can keep your home almost dust free,” she said in her TikTok video. “Stick around for the last one to turn dusting from a weekly job into a monthly one.”
She then went on to share her top cleaning tips to keep dust away from your home.
1. Blast dust from radiators
Anna’s first tip is to blast all of your radiators from dust in order to keep them clean and prevent the dust from moving to other parts of your home.
“First one is to blast out any dust from your radiators using a hair dryer or a steam cleaner,” she said in the clip as she was seen using both a hair dryer and a steam cleaner on the top part of the radiator in order to blow any dust down onto the floor.
You should then hoover up the fallen dust to prevent it from moving to other parts of the room.
2. Using dryer sheets for dusting
Next up, she was seen taking out a Lenor dryer sheet from the packing in order to dust surfaces around her home. Not only does this give your home a nice smell, Anna also claimed it helps prevent and repel dust.
“Next, dryer sheets pick up dust from surfaces and repel it too,” she said as she used it to wipe off her mantelpiece and a lamp.
3. Dust pads on walls and ceilings
Similarly, Anna also shared how using dust pads on a Flash mop can help you easily eliminate dust that in places you may not have thought of dusting.
“These dust pads are designed to trap dust, so attach one to your Flash mop and easily pick up dust from your ceilings, walls, and floors,” Anna shared as she was seen smoothly wipe her indoor walls with her mop.
4. Lint rollers on fabric items
While most of us will have a lint roller laying in a drawer somewhere, Anna is urging people to take it out while you’re cleaning as it’s a great way to clean fabric items in your home that you might otherwise not be able to clean as easily.
“Lint rollers are not only for your clothes. I like to use them to remove dust from lampshades and upholstery,” she said as she showed her viewers
5. DIY spray to repel any dust
“And finally, this DIY spray repels dust from surfaces so you only have to dust once a month,” she revealed.
In an empty spray bottle, she added half a teaspoon of olive oil, one teaspoon of white vinegar, half a cup of water, and two drops of dish soap. You can also add 10 drops of lemon essential oil to make your home smell lemony – but this is not essential.
“Simply spray onto a Microfibre cloth and wipe along surfaces. It acts as a barrier preventing dust from settling,” she wrote in the caption of her video.
