How to pack suitcase using traveller’s ‘sushi jeans’ hack

We’ve all been there, practically buying a whole new wardrobe for a seven-day holiday, only to realise there’s not enough space in the suitcase.

Sitting on your case to try and get it shut may work in some instances, but the last thing you want to do is break your case the day before you’re jetting off.

When you’ve got bulkier items as well, such as jeans for the balmy evenings, you don’t want to wear them at the airport, but you may not want to forgo them from your case.

But it turns out you don’t have to, as one woman has got the perfect ‘sushi jeans’ method for you – and it really works.

In fact, by rolling all of your clothes, not just jeans, it gives you so much more space to work with.

Go With Jo took to TikTok to show how she rolls her jeans for holidays, referring to it as an “important life hack”.

It read: “How to roll a pair of jeans to pack in a suitcase or put on a shelf.”

She folded the pair of jeans in half so the legs were sitting on top of each other.

Then the poster guided the folded crotch area to the pocket so a small amount of material was folded in so it has a “nice even shape”.

She then folded the jeans in half again, and then rolled them into a nice clean “sushi” shape.

In a similar video, Kerra Masella explained you should “roll” not “fold” your clothes, including jeans.

Even though jeans are bulkier, you can fit so many in your case when you roll, and she demonstrated seven folded pairs versus seven rolled.

Another person recommended “packing cubes” to get everything neatly into the case, and then it can be separated into different types of clothing.

For example, you could put all your underwear in one cube, all trousers in another.

The legendary Jane McDonald also recommends rolling your clothes.
