Vodafone, Three, EE, or O2 customers handed £800 with Amazon Prime Day text | Personal Finance | Finance
Express Audience Editor Alex Evans explains: “These phones currently on the Amazon Prime Day sale are unlocked, meaning they will instantly work on any network.
“All you need to do is then take out a SIM-only deal.
“For example, right now Three is offering a SIM-only contract with 60GB of data per month an unlimited minutes and texts for just £10 a month.
“O2 is offering a SIM only deal for just £7.99 a month with 30GB of data, while Three has a bumper 120GB of data for £12 a month or 60GB for £10.
“Vodafone is also offering 30GB per month for £8.
“The very cheapest deal is a ridiculous £5 per month from Three for 3GB of data, which is ideal if you’re mostly at home and don’t use a lot of data when you’re out of the house.
“Once you’ve bought your SIM free phone on Prime Day, you can then text your supplier to ask for its PAC code.
“A PAC code is something that allows you to change networks and keep your old number. Just text PAC to 65075 and in 60 seconds you’ll have a nine-digit code.
“Give this code to your new chosen network, and they will automatically switch you from your old network when the SIM only deal starts.”
Alex continued: “The savings here are huge.
“Vodafone’s 50GB data plan with a Pixel Pro included costs £1,608 for 24 months including the up front cost spread over the contract.
“But if you buy the phone for £616 from Amazon Prime Day’s deals, then take out O2’s £7.99 30GB SIM only deal, you would pay just £808 over 24 months – a saving of £800. Even for Three’s 60GB plan, you’d pay £856 over two years, still a saving of £752.
“Vodafone’s cheapest 3GB plan still comes in at £1,464 for 24 months, whereas getting the phone SIM-only from Amazon for £616 then taking out Three’s £5 a month deal works out at £736, a £728 saving.
“Similar prices for phone inclusive contracts at EE and O2 as well as Three, as well as for other phone models, make SIM only a much cheaper option whichever company you go with.”
