Viral 2030s predictions from population decline to ‘no snow’ | Weird | News
People have been sharing their viral predictions for 2030 and beyond.
While we all strive to live in the moment or plan for the immediate future, it can be challenging not to ponder what the world will look like in the coming decades and it can seem intimidating.
From vehicles, technology, environment, fashion, the appearance of homes and buildings, product labels and much more, there are countless aspects of daily life that evolve from decade to decade and even day to day in some instances. While many of us may have plans for the next year or two, contemplating life in the far-off future can be overwhelming.
A recent Reddit thread saw users sharing their predictions for what the future might bring. While some appeared hopeful, others expressed concern about potential changes, while some simply wished for an uneventful future, pleading “please be boring”.
One man in his 50s offered his detailed forecasts for 2033. He is adamant that technology will continue to evolve rapidly, medicine will advance, Europe and Asia will see a population decline, and Russia will be “very different Russia“.
He stated: “Expect more massive change. Medicine will continue to improve at break neck speed – it seems we have a disease cured every day now.”
“We will start seeing massive and accelerating population decline in many countries in Europe and Asia. This is new to humanity outside of war, famine or plague so this will have unforeseen economic and social impacts. The reduction in globalization due to the change in the world. China will be in decline due to population and lots of supply chains will change.”
He continued: “I think COVID made a lot of people scared and I have seen globally a push toward much closer shorter supply chains. How that will play out with the bad demographics no clue. More space stuff.
“The outcome of the Ukraine war will at this point be a very different Russia. The amount of economic, social and demographic damage done is still hard to determine even if it ends tomorrow. Given the beginnings of permanent reduction in oil usage as seen from China due to the electrification of everything by the time sanctions come off oil may not be worth as much.”
Another wrote: “Please be boring. Please be boring. Please be boring.”
One other added: “I hope they will be boring, precedented, and devoid of historic events.”
Another pointed out: “I don’t know, but I’m certain that beginning in 2033, all of the kids that were born at the beginning of pandemic will turn 13, therefore becoming the ‘QUARANTEENS’.”
One person shared their forecast, saying: “So big changes in politics with that generation going slowly away (too old, die), the birth rates being in an all time low, the gen X and millennials taking over higher up positions in companies and politics. I have no idea what the general direction and tendency will be but it might be really different to today.”
Another added their vision for 2033, predicting: “Cannabis legal everywhere, every street corner has a Starbucks on one side, cannabis dispensary on the other, electric vehicles everywhere, all cars look like oversized computer mice, try to charge car, but have to watch a 30-second unskippable ad first.”
An optimist chimed in: “Steady gradual progress toward a better world. A lot of mistakes. Some small steps back. Some big steps forward. Loss and pain. Growth and joy. Everyone in every time-period likes to pretend it’s the end of the human world, but life moves on. The next generation isn’t doomed, they are just different. Don’t lose hope. Life is short so just explore what makes you feel happy.”
Yet another commenter was less hopeful, stating: “I think for most people, it will be hard. I would be very surprised if we avoided global conflict throughout the 2030s.”
And one more added, “There will be no more snow.”
