Stylish fan has £16 off and ‘excellent cooling ability’

While you could spend thousands on heavy duty air conditioning units or high tech smart fans, sometimes the simplest things in life are the most effective. And as the UK is enjoying some warmer weather, that’s exactly how we’d describe this elegant fan, which is currently reduced in price on Amazon.

Instead of suffering through hot and sticky nights, the Russell Hobbs Scandi Electric Pedestal Fan will be an absolute godsend as the mercurry rises – and it’s a steal at £53.99, discounted from £69.99. Fans are normally a bit of an eyesore, but this is something totally different – coming in a Scandi-inspired chic black colour with wood-effect accents. There are other colours to choose from – ranging from grey to white – but they’re not all reduced quite as heavily as the black, so it’s worth having a closer look.

This is a standing fan, so it will perch proudly on the side of your room, and its slim design means it doesn’t take up too much space. It’s an old-school fan, meaning it’s got four blades that give you a powerful gust of air, and three speed settings to tailor to how much cooling you’re after.

The same fan is sold at Dunelm, where it’s currently sitting at full price. And with 1,114 global ratings on Amazon and an average of 4.6 out of 5 stars, safe to say customers are pretty thrilled with the Russell Hobbs fan.

One happy customer wrote: “The power of this fan is strong, it somehow feels like it is blowing cold air towards you even during a very hot day (something I found that other fan brands struggled with as they would generate warm air instead). As for noise, I would say despite the size of the fan, it is quieter than other fans I’ve had. Whilst it is not completely silent, it is soft enough that it just becomes gentle background noise. Best of all, it looks great too! The black finish and the wood effect makes the fan look high quality.”

Another shopper agreed with a lot of these points, writing: “The fan offers a great aesthetic, high quality fit and finish, as well as excellent cooling ability at a good price point.” While a third chimed in: “Really good and powerful, worth the price, always purchased cheap plastic ones in the past but these ones are built to last long. Very easy to assemble.”

Whereas some other reviews raised some interesting points. While some were happy with the noise level of the fan, not everyone was so convinced – with one review reading: “This looks great and you can feel the quality but I wouldn’t recommend for night time use when trying to sleep as even setting 1 is loud.”

Another wasn’t pleased with the price point, writing: “Even though I haven’t had any problem with the fan since purchase – almost a year now, I feel it should be cheaper than it was sold for”. Of course, there are a lot of much cheaper options on the market – like the Essentials 16″ Pedestal Fan, which is currently reduced to £14.99 on ScrewFix.

Or, you could head to the other end of the scale, and splash a whole lot more cash to cool your home in this heatwave. The Dyson Cool Tower Fan is a good example of this, but it’s much pricier – currently reduced to £225 from its full price of £349.
