Katy Perry video under investigation in Spain for alleged unauthorised beach filming | Ents & Arts News

Katy Perry’s latest video is being investigated in Spain after unauthorised filming allegedly took place on protected sand dunes in the Balearic Islands.

The Lifetimes video shows the star on the beaches of Formentera, on a boat and jumping in the sea, and partying in the clubs of nearby Ibiza.

In a statement, the Spanish government said there had been alleged violations on the uninhabited islet of S’Espalmador at the most northern point of Formentera, by the production company behind the video.

However, the officials from the country’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment pointed out that while a preliminary investigation is under way, they are not treating the alleged breach as an environmental crime as permission may have been granted if it had been sought.

Perry has not commented on the investigation.

S’Espalmador is a privately owned island situated in the natural park of Ses Salines. It is one of the most ecologically diverse areas of Formentera, with natural mud flats and salt plains, according to local tourism sites.

Perry, best known for hits including Roar, Firework and I Kissed A Girl, is set to release her seventh album 143 in September.

The lead single, Woman’s World, and its video were not well received by critics, and the song charted outside the Top 40 in the UK.

Perry is engaged to actor Orlando Bloom and the couple have a three-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.

Sky News has contacted representatives for the singer and the production company behind the Lifetimes video for comment on the Spanish investigation.
