Emma Raducanu adds three tournaments to schedule after vowing to correct past mistakes | Tennis | Sport

“I would have preferred to probably play, a little bit more before coming into the US Open,” a tearful Raducanu said after losing to Sofia Kenin in Flushing Meadows. “You know, I know when I have a lot of matches, just like every player, you feel really good.

“You feel like everything’s automatic. So yeah, I think I can learn from it. And you know my manage my schedule slightly differently.”

And Raducanu has already come good on her word. The former world No. 10 was already signed up to compete in the upcoming Korea Open in Seoul and in the Hong Kong Open at the end of October.

She has now added a third tournament to her plans, with her name added to the entry list for the China Open – the penultimate WTA 1000 event of the season. The entire top 20 will be heading to Beijing for the tournament, which takes place from September 25 to October 6.

It will be a quick turnaround for Raducanu after the Korea Open, held from September 16 to 22. The 21-year-old previously played in the 500-point tournament in 2022. It was one of her last outings before she shut down her season due to wrist injuries.

Two years ago, the world No. 72 reached the semi-final before losing to top seed Jelena Ostapenko. It was her best result since winning the US Open, and she has since reached another semi-final in Eastbourne.
