Trump sends Putin stark 5-word message as Kremlin tyrant sends ‘very nice’ birthday wishes | World | News

Donald Trump has sent Vladimir Putin a stark message after the two leaders spoke for nearly 50 minutes on the phone on Saturday. The US and Russian Presidents discussed Israel‘s strikes on Iran, and the possibility of reviving negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme.

The Kremlin tyrant also took the opportunity to wish his counterpart a happy birthday. Trump turned 79 on Saturday and will attend a military parade marking the 250th anniversary of the US Army.

In a post to his Truth Social website, the US President wrote: “President Putin called this morning to very nicely wish me a Happy Birthday, but to more importantly, talk about Iran, a country he knows very well.

“We talked at length. Much less time was spent talking about Russia/Ukraine, but that will be for next week.

“He is doing the planned prisoner swaps – large numbers of prisoners are being exchanged, immediately, from both sides.

“He feels, as do I, this war in Israel-Iran should end.”

However, Trump then ominously added: “I explained… his war should also end.”

Saturday’s military parade will feature more than 6,000 soldiers dressed in uniforms ranging from the Revolutionary War up to the present day.

It is the brainchild of the US President, who was reportedly inspired by a 2017 Bastille Day procession in Paris.

Military parades in the US are fairly rare, with the last one on a similar scale taking place in 1991.

This was to celebrate the end of the first Gulf War and was attended by 8,000 troops.

The parade comes amid rising political turmoil in the US, with demonstrations taking place all across the country.

The protests, dubbed “No Kings”, are taking place at about 2,000 sites nationwide, from big cities to small towns.

Demonstrators are expected to turn out in their millions as they voice opposition to the excesses of Donald Trump’s administration.
