Oodie’s ‘cool and comfortable’ PJs are on sale for heatwave
With a heatwave hitting many parts of the UK this week, lots of us are struggling to sleep and enduring sweaty, sticky nights. While the likes of fans or even air con units provide relief, some shoppers swear by cooling nightwear to help.
Lots of retailers now have options made from lightweight, breathable fabrics that wick-away sweat, helping to regulate body temperature. The exact materials vary but are often blends made from wood pulp such as bamboo, tencel, lyocell and modal that feel silky and soft against the skin.
Oodie, more known for it’s cosy blanket hoodies, joined the fray earlier this year and its pyjama range is on sale, with items ranging in price from £25 to £30.
There are shorts or trousers to choose from, and short and long-sleeve tops in five different prints. The pieces are sold separately so shoppers can mix and match. They’re a modal blend – made from beech fibres – and the Oodie claims that tests of its fabric found the material to be 21% more breathable than cotton jersey.
For anyone after a short set, the cooling shorts come in the cloud design and a pink heart-pattern version and are currently down from £35 to £30, as are the matching short-sleeved tops.
There are trousers in both wide-leg and jogger-style; these tie-dye trousers and matching long-sleeve top are a fun option and are both down from £39 to £25 – that’s 35% off.
All the pieces come in sizes small to 2XL. We’d recommend checking the size guide before purchasing as some shoppers say these have been coming up smaller than previous purchases by the brand.
One satisfied shopper wrote in the reviews: “These are the best pjs I’ve ever worn. They are so lightweight and comfortable. I am no longer sweating at night! It’s the first time I have found pjs that actually keep me cool and comfortable at night.”
Another person gushed: “Perfect for cooling at night.”
However, some buyers noted they’d struggled with the sizing, with one commenting: “Too clingy”. Another said: “I bought the wrong size (S) thinking it will be the same as previous pyjama sizes. It was very tight on me.”
If Oodie’s range isn’t your style there are plenty of options on the market.
Wuka is best known for its period pants but also makes sweat-wicking nightwear. The short pyjama set is crafted from lyocell and the brand says these have been shown to keeps wearers ‘up to 2.5 degrees cooler through the night’. The shorts and crew-neck T-shirt combo comes in sizes S-2XL, which fits UK 8-18.
Uniqlo’s Heattech thermal range is a go-to for many in cooler months fabric, but the brand also has a cooling alternative: Airism, a cotton-poly blend that the brand says is moisture-wicking and soft against the skin. For anyone who prefers a traditional-looking set, the Airism cotton pyjamas are made up of trousers and a long-sleeved top and come in an off-white and navy blue, both with a small botanical-inspired print and contrast piping. Available in XXS to XXL, be sure to check Uniqlo’s size chart before buying and note that the white pair are slightly sheer.
