All the Morrisons stores, cafes, florists and pharmacies closing
Morrisons shoppers may lose their local store by the end of the year, the supermarket chain has confirmed. Despite being one of the UK’s leading chains, Morrisons will bid farewell to 103 sites, including stores, cafes, florists, and pharmacies. The closures will be widespread but are intended to improve the shopping experience in areas that customers “really value”.
The retailer’s CEO Rami Baitiéh said in March: “Morrisons Cafés are rightly famous for their great quality, well-priced food, their place in the local community and their appealing mix of traditional favourites alongside exciting new dishes. In most locations, the Morrisons Café has a bright future, but a minority have specific local challenges, and in those locations, regrettably, closure and re-allocation of the space is the only sensible option.” Morrisons is expected to close more than 50 cafes, 13 florists, four pharmacies, and all 18 Market Kitchens in the coming months.
In 2021, Morrisons operated 497 supermarkets across England, Wales and Scotland, along with a single outlet in Gibraltar. During this time, the company employed 110,000 staff members and served approximately 11 million shoppers each week.
Morrisons introduced the Market Street concept in 2009, aiming to bring specialist, craft-based departments—such as butchers, bakers, fishmongers, and florists—into Morrisons stores. However, in 2023, Morrisons began to scale back its operations, which were cut further in 2025.
Certain communities are being hit significantly harder than others, facing a double blow to their local amenities. Specifically, two locations, Blackburn (Railway Road) and London (Wood Green), are set to lose both their in-store Cafe and Pharmacy.
The Stirchley site in the West Midlands is also marked for the shuttering of both its Cafe and Florist.
The city facing the most widespread cuts is Bradford, where three separate Morrisons sites are listed for closure across all three amenities: a Cafe, a Florist, and a Pharmacy.
The CEO said: “Although these changes are relatively small in the context of the overall scale of the Morrisons business, we do not take lightly the disruption and uncertainty they will cause to some of our colleagues. We will of course take particular care to look after all of them well through the coming changes.”
