NFL star Kris Boyd is fighting for his life after being wounded in a shooting in Mahattan, New York, according to reports in the City. The cornerback is reported to have been shot in the abdomen.

The New York Post report that the shooting took place at around 2am ET. The 29-year-old was rushed to Bellevue hospital in New York, where he is said to be critically ill.

While there has been no official confirmation from the police over the victim, the report says that they have confirmed it is Boyd. There have so far been no arrests as investigations continue.

The shooting is reported to have happened after a dispute escalated, according to eyewitnesses. Boyd joined the New York Jets back in March, after joing them as a free agent.

He has previously represented Houston Texans and Arizonal Cardinals. He also represented Minnesota vikings in the 2019 NFL Draft.

The Jets were in action on Thursday night as they took on New England Patriots. That therefore means that they are not scheduled to play as ususal on Sunday.
