Putin on brink as Kremlin tyrant sent brutal 6-word Ukraine warning | World | News

Vladimir Putin has been sent a brutal warning by a former Russian military and intelligence officer, as he prepares to hold peace talks on Ukraine. Donald Trump’s Russian envoy is set for a Kremlin showdown with the Russian president to try and thrash out a deal.

Steve Witkoff jetted into the Russian capital following tense negotiations with Ukraine to present his latest proposals. Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner is also expected to attend the high-stakes talks, as fighting continues to rage in Ukraine. Witkoff has been accused by critics of taking a pro-Russian position in the talks so far and provoked a furious backlash after he was caught reportedly coaching the Kremlin team on how to handle the mercurial US President.

Sceptics have expressed their doubts that Putin is ready for meaningful talks, with the Kremlin tyrant still believing he can achieve his maximalist goals through victory on the battlefield.

However, Igor Girkin warned Putin that his dreams of a total military conquest of Ukraine were delusional and as elusive as ever.

“After a six-month offensive, can the fall of Kupyansk a mid-size district centre in Kharkiv region really be considered a ‘strategic success’?” he wrote in a social media post.

“In Kyiv and in other EU capitals, they understand perfectly well that neither Kupyansk, nor Pokrovsk, nor Orikhiv, nor Huliaipole nor any other towns and villages will bring a Russian victory unless the Ukrainian Armed Forces are defeated during their capture.”

The former Russian officer then tellingly added: “The Ukrainian army will not be defeated.”

He added that the Ukrainians are still prepared to fight for “every hill, every house, every forest line which is why our tactical gains there are minimal or nonexistent. It is impossible to defeat them.”

Putin claimed on Tuesday that his troops have finally taken Pokrovsk, a key strategic transport hub on Ukraine’s eastern front, although Ukraine denied the city had fallen.

Analysts at the US think tank the Institute for the Study of War argue that Putin is likely to reject any peace terms in the short term.

“Russian information space voices continue to argue that the Kremlin will likely reject a ceasefire or any iteration of the US-proposed peace plan because the Kremlin views these efforts as inconsequential and as a hindrance to Russia’s goals in Ukraine and globally,” they wrote in one of their latest bulletins.

“The Kremlin continues to advance a false narrative that Ukraine’s front line and political stability are on the verge of collapse in an effort to convince the West to capitulate to Russian demands that Russia cannot secure militarily.

“ISW continues to assess that a Russian battlefield victory is neither imminent nor inevitable and that the Russian war effort has vulnerabilities the West has not exploited.”
