Russia makes disgusting statement after hero British paratrooper dies in Ukraine | World | News

Russia has issued a vile statement accusing the UK of helping Ukraine carry out “acts of terrorism” after a British paratrooper died in the country.

The Kremlin has issued a statement after Lance Corporal George Hooley died on Tuesday in a training accident in Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, said British soldiers in Ukraine, “carry out terrorist attacks and extremist tasks”.

She also said the British government “should not deceive its citizens” over the role played by British soldiers, and added that foreign military contingents in Ukraine would be considered targets.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov added: “They’re fantasising about sending their troops to Ukraine as peacekeepers. For us, these so-called peacekeepers will immediately become legitimate targets.”

Hooley was serving with the Special Forces Support Group, which is drawn from the 1st Battalion, Parachute Regiment, and based in St Athan, Wales, they support the SAS and SBS on missions.
