Bruno Fernandes shows his true colours with message to forgotten Man Utd ace | Football | Sport
Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes has offered words of encouragement to Tyrell Malacia after the defender made his first appearance for the Red Devils since the beginning of the year. He entered the fray from the substitutes’ bench during United’s triumph over Newcastle on Boxing Day. Malacia replaced Luke Shaw with just two minutes remaining and assisted Ruben Amorim’s team in securing crucial three points that lifted them level with Chelsea in fifth place.
The left-back had spent the latter portion of last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven after falling out of favour under Amorim. Despite appearing destined for an Old Trafford exit during the summer transfer window, he has since been welcomed back into the fold. Following six consecutive matchday squad selections, Malacia finally made his eagerly anticipated comeback at Old Trafford against the Magpies.
Afterwards, he took to social media to share several photographs from the match, accompanying them with the biblical passage Romans 8:18.
It states: “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
Fernandes, who remains sidelined for United after sustaining a hamstring problem during the defeat to Aston Villa before Christmas, shared the post on his own Instagram story.
He added: “You deserve this so much my friend.”
Bryan Mbeumo, Amad, Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, Senne Lammens, Altay Bayindir, Diogo Dalot and Leny Yoro also showed their support by liking the post.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Antony left comments on Malacia’s social media update, joined by his international colleagues Ian Maatsen and Justin Kluivert.
Amorim has previously lauded Malacia’s dedication and determination to force his way back into United’s plans.
“I love all my players,” the Portuguese manager declared in October. “I demand the same thing from all my players.
“He is working really well, he adapted really well to our team. For me, there are no favourites. If you work, you play for Manchester United. If you don’t, you need to work harder to get back on the pitch.”
The January transfer window opens next week with Malacia amongst those anticipated to attract interest from potential suitors.
Proposed loan moves to Elche and Eyupspor fell through during the summer before his reintegration into the United squad.
