Morrisons makes major change in 2200 stores today – customers will be happy | Personal Finance | Finance


Morrisons will cut the prices of more than 2,500 items from January 2, offering much-welcomed savings for customers as the New Year begins. The changes will be applied in all of its supermarkets across the UK and online, covering a broad range of goods, from fresh produce to household brands. 

The move comes as many households look to rein in spending after Christmas and amid continued pressure on budgets. Alex Paver, pricing and customer director at Morrisons, said: “At Morrisons, we believe great quality should be affordable for everyone, and we know that January is a time when the cost of the weekly shop really matters to customers. That’s why we’ve freshly cut 1000s of prices, from fresh favourites to cupboard stables, so customers can trust they’re getting real value every time they shop with us.” 

The reductions will include fresh fruit and vegetables, such as tenderstem broccoli, sweet potatoes, blueberries and baby plum tomatoes, alongside cuts to meat, fish, and frozen foods. 

Prices on kitchen cupboard staples and branded goods will also be slashed. Products such as Kellogg’s and Nestle cereals, John West Tuna and Birds Eye items are among those to fall in price, as well as a number of cleaning products and baby supplies. 

The supermarket confirmed that household brands, including Fairy and Cif, will see reductions, while items from Pampers, Ella’s Kitchen, and Organix will also be included.

Morrisons said the fresh cuts form part of its ongoing investment in affordable, everyday shopping and bargains, adding that reductions will be clearly highlighted in-store and on the Morrisons website. 

Mr Paver added: “These price cuts reflect our continued commitment to helping customers spend less, while enjoying the quality Morrisons is known for.”

Launching in 1899, Morrisons comprises around 500 supermarket stores and 1,700 Morrisons Daily convenience stores.
