FPL injury news: Rice, Keane, Hall, Bruno Fernandes, Calvert-Lewin latest for GW20 | Football | Sport

We’re approaching another full weekend of Premier League fixtures, with all 20 clubs in action across the next two days. Manchester City‘s blockbuster meeting with managerless Chelsea is the pick of the bunch, with that fixture taking place on Sunday. Many top clubs are fielding injury concerns ahead of their matches, though, leaving FPL managers with some important decisions to make.

Express Sport provides a helping hand with a list of players who might not be available for Gameweek 20…

Declan Rice

The midfielder faces a race against time to be back for Arsenal‘s match against Bournemouth after missing the big win over Aston Villa earlier this week.

Mikel Arteta stopped short of ruling him out in Friday’s press conference, saying: “Obviously we haven’t trained yet, so today’s going to be the first training session. Probably with the players that obviously started against Villa, so we’ll know more this afternoon.”

Rice has been dealing with a knee injury that he sustained during the recent victory over Brighton and Hove Albion. It remains to be seen if he will feature this weekend, although any risk of aggravating the problem could see him rested again.

Michael Keane

Everton boss David Moyes believes the defender has ‘a chance’ of returning from injury when the Toffees host Brentford on Sunday.

Asked for an injury update on Friday, Moyes said: “Michael Keane has got a chance, but I would say the others [Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Charly Alcaraz] don’t have a chance, no.”

Keane has been virtually ever-present alongside James Tarkowski at the heart of Everton’s defence this season, which suggests he will start if he is passed fit.

Lewis Hall

The young full-back appeared to pick up a knock during Newcastle‘s recent win against Burnley, but he still managed to complete the full 90 minutes.

However, the nature of the problem raised fears that he could be forced to miss some matches in order to return to full fitness.

But, according to the Daily Mail, he believes he will be ready to face Crystal Palace and isn’t feeling too much pain in his affected ankle.

Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United will be without their captain once again when they face rivals Leeds United on Sunday, with Ruben Amorim confirming the Portuguese midfielder remains sidelined.

Speaking on Friday, the Red Devils manager said there were no injury changes compared to the Wolves draw in midweek.

“We are going [to Leeds] with no different issues,” said Amorim. “We shall see tomorrow, we have more training. I don’t think anyone is going to recover but we will see.”

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

The in-form striker was benched as Leeds United played out a goalless draw with Liverpool on Thursday night, although he did come on for the last 20 minutes.

It seems the former Everton forward is not carrying an injury, with Daniel Farke explaining after the full-time whistle that he simply wanted to manage minutes.

“We all know about what happens in the last two years to him,” said the German manager. “I have to look a bit after him. It was always the plan.”
