Book enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting Netflix’s newest romance novel adaptation, People We Meet On Vacation.

Based on Emily Henry’s 2021 bestseller, the film follows unlikely best friends Alex and Poppy, who meet up for summer holidays every year.

Following 10 years of maintaining this ritual, their friendship faces a pivotal moment when they begin to question their real feelings for each other.

Speaking to Netflix before the film’s debut this Friday (9 January), Henry revealed: “I’ve been kind of an anxious wreck about who would play these characters.”

She added: “I truly could not feel more confident that my readers and then so many more people who don’t even know about the book are going to completely fall in love with Poppy and Alex.”

Here, we dive into the impressive cast breathing life into the novel’s beloved characters.

British actor Tom Blyth portrays the structure-loving male lead, Alex, who embarks on his first overseas adventure with Poppy during their university years.

Audiences will know Blyth from his breakthrough performance as young Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.

Alex emerges from his comfort zone after meeting spontaneous writer Poppy, portrayed by Emily Bader.

The American actress is well-versed in romantic comedies, having recently headlined the cast of Prime Video’s historical romance drama, My Lady Jane. She portrayed the titular Lady Jane Grey, but unfortunately, the show was axed after just one series.

Sarah Catherine Hook featured in the latest series of The White Lotus, playing Piper, the middle child of the dysfunctional Ratliff family.

In this series, she plays Alex’s on-and-off girlfriend Sarah, who isn’t exactly overjoyed about his friendship with Poppy.

Lucien Laviscount recently appeared on our screens as Alfie in Emily in Paris series five, but he’s a long way from France in this rom-com.

Laviscount plays Poppy’s boyfriend Trey, a photographer who also loves to travel. However, Netflix viewers will recognise him best as Emily’s love interest in the Paris-set series.

Playing another of Poppy’s love interests, Spencer Neville previously starred in Netflix’s psychological thriller Ozark, and the popular series American Horror Story.

More recently, Neville played university student Aaron in HBO’s The Sex Lives of College Girls.

London-born actress Jameela Jamil portrays Poppy’s boss and mentor, Swapna. She recently made an appearance in the festive romance film A Merry Little Ex-Mas.

Elsewhere in the cast, viewers can look forward to seeing Lukas Gage (You), playing Alex and Poppy’s holiday friend Buck.
