‘Masterpiece’ film starring Tom Hanks is now streaming on Netflix | Films | Entertainment

One of Tom Hanks’ many popular films recently dropped on to Netflix, much to the delight of movie fans.

Catch Me If You Can is a 2002 crime comedy-drama film directed and produced by Steven Spielberg and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks, alongside Christopher Walken, Martin Sheen, Nathalie Baye, Amy Adams, and James Brolin in supporting roles. The screenplay by Jeff Nathanson is based on the eponymous and semi-autobiographical book by Frank Abagnale Jr., who claims that before his 19th birthday, he successfully performed cons worth millions of dollars by posing as a Pan American World Airways pilot, a Georgia doctor, and a Louisiana parish prosecutor. However, the truth of his story continues to be debated to this day.

The film’s synopsis reads: “Frank Abagnale, Jr. works as a doctor, a lawyer, and as a co-pilot for a major airline, all before his 18th birthday. A master of deception, he is a brilliant forger whose skill gives him his first real claim to fame. At the age of 17, Frank Abagnale, Jr. becomes the most successful bank robber in the history of the U.S. FBI Agent Carl Hanratty makes it his prime mission to capture Frank and bring him to justice, but Frank is always one step ahead of him.”

Catch Me if You Can has garnered an impressive 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the critics’ consensus stating: “

With help from a strong performance by Leonardo DiCaprio as real-life wunderkind con artist Frank Abagnale, Steven Spielberg crafts a film that’s stylish, breezily entertaining, and surprisingly sweet.”

One fan left a glowing review, they said: “The editing makes the movie so intriguing with this fast pacing. The cinematography is great, and I liked the framing. I saw everything I needed to see and nothing more. This is rarely mentioned as one of Steven Spielberg’s best, but it’s definitely a masterpiece. John Williams’ score is also one of the standouts. But the greatest thing about this movie is the cast. The acting performances were all great, but my favourite was definitely Christopher Walken’s. He owned that character. Catch Me If You Can is a terrific movie. This is the perfect example on how to adapt a real story into a movie.”

“One of the best ‘True Story’ films I’ve seen. It has adventure, drama and comedy all wrapped into one. Di Caprio and Hanks were amazing,” another said.
