Crocs that are ‘great for gardening’ now 45% cheaper

Shoppers have said a pair of fleece-lined Crocs are “great for gardening”, especially if you’re getting on with tasks during the chillier months. As part of the brand’s seasonal sale, they currently have 45% off in select colours, making them a bit of a bargain.  The brand’s Classic Lined Clogs originally retail for £59.99, but are currently on sale for £32.99 (depending on the colour you choose). The best deals are under £33, but select shades are only reduced by 35%, which drops the price to £38.99.

The colours with the 45% discount include black, emerald, moss green, blue calcite, a purple shade called dark iris, and a latte brown. The clogs come in sizes two through 10, but availability varies across shades.

Reviews say the fleece-lined clogs are great for outdoor activities like gardening. One shopper said: “Great for gardening and walking the dogs. Don’t get wet in the grass, nice and warm.”

But, they are versatile enough to wear instead of slippers around the house, as one customer said: “Got a fleece-lined pair for gardening in colder weather and wearing around the house running after a one-year-old. They’re perfectly snuggly, warm, comfortable and I can clean them easily. Getting another pair without fleece now for summer.”

If you’d prefer a pair you can wear right through into the warmer months, the brand’s Classic Clog is also on sale. The 30% discount brings the price down from £49.99 to £34.99. At the time of writing, there are 14 shades on sale to choose from, including khaki, lilac, grey and various shades of pink. Sizes vary depending on the colour, but generally range from two to 10.

If you’re not familiar with Crocs, their classic clogs are made from an ultra-light material designed to mould to your foot. The footbed is moulded for extra arch support, and although they slip on, they also have a heel strap to keep them in place. The material is also non-slip, and the wide soles are designed to keep you firmly on your feet. At the same time, the shoes also have ventilation ports to keep feet fresh, and they are super easy to clean and quick-drying.

Their unusual design makes them quite divisive, but with a 4.5 out of five rating coming from over 40,000 online reviews, their popularity is undeniable. In fact, in recent years they’ve even become a bit of a trendy statement shoe, with wearers able to decorate and customise their Crocs with the brand’s charms, known as jibbitz.

Speaking as a Croc convert myself, I think they’re a super versatile slip-on shoe option that lasts a really long time. I have had mine since 2010 and have worn them everywhere, from customer service jobs to the beach and even at music festivals. To this day, they’re still going strong!

Fans of the classic clogs are loving them for gardening too, with one review saying: “Used for gardening and general use. Very comfortable.”

Another fan wrote: “I now have seven pairs of Crocs and I love them all!!! I wear them for my gardening, washing my car, shopping, and around the house. I have yet to find a pair of slippers that fit properly, and my Crocs are always there waiting for me to slip on. Love them!”

In some professions, especially ones where you’re on your feet a lot (think chefs, the service industry or those in the medical field), they’re also a go-to comfy shoe for many. In a review, a nurse said: “They are comfortable and very durable, and I swear they prevent tired and sore feet. I am now speaking from experience here. I am a nurse, and I have over 20 pairs of all colours and designs. I have been wearing them to work since they first came out!”

Despite the praise, the clogs were not to everyone’s liking, and some shoppers found them uncomfortable. One wrote: ” Highly uncomfortable. The little dots on the insole area feel like tiny rocks.” First-time buyers should note that the insole is covered in small, textured nubs that massage the foot, which may not be suitable for everyone.

But others have been happily converted to Crocs, with one review saying: “I’ve now replaced my slippers with a pair of these and wish I’d done it sooner! They’re more comfortable and durable than any slippers I’ve had, with the bonus of being amphibious so they don’t get wrecked after a few trips into a wet garden when you’ve forgotten to put the bins out late at night!!”

Another said: “I love these. I’m sold on Crocs forever. Super cute colour. Are they technically ugly shoes? Maybe. Are they the most comfortable thing I’ve ever put on my feet? Yes. Great for a summer slip-on and pool shoe. I even wear them around the house, cooking and cleaning, to spare my back. Want to get the lined ones when it gets cold.”
