Avocados are a popular fruit, and for a good reason. Not only are they extremely versatile, being the perfect addition to a piece of toast or as the main ingredient in guacamole, they’re also very healthy.
Since they’re packed with healthy fats, fibre, potassium, minerals, as well as vitamins K, C, E, and B, they have plenty of health benefits, including being able to lower high cholesterol, improve digestion, and boost and support eye, skin, and brain health. They’re also good in helping your body control its blood sugar levels.
But if you’ve ever bought an avocado, you will know it’s not the easiest fruit to cut into, as the skin is difficult to peel of, and there’s a large pit in the middle you have to remove in order to be able to cut inside. However, one man now claims to have found the solution for this problem.
Sidney Raz is an American content creator who often tests different viral cooking and life hacks to determine if they’re worth a try. And in one of his videos, he was amazed to learn an easier way to remove an avocado pit without the need of a knife.
“Here’s something I wish I knew before I was in my thirties,” Sidney said at the start of the video before showing a clip of the newest hack he discovered.

In the clip, Australian cooking influencer Nat, known online as ‘Nat’s What I Reckon’ was seen reading a comment that said you can pop the pip of an avocado out by simply pressing the back of the avocado.
Clearly skeptical, Nat was then seen holding half on an avocado with the pit inside of it, before carefully pressing the back of the avocado with his finger, which made the pit pop out of the fruit without hassle.
Having seen the clip, Sidney was just as amazed as Nat, as the next clip showed him holding up his own avocado, ready to try out the cooking hack for himself.
Sidney went on to share he had his stomach removed in 2025 after getting diagnosed with cancer. Because of this, he was forced to change his diet, and eat more foods that contained heart healthy fats, such as avocados, which lead him to the cooking hack.
While explaining this, Sidney used a knife to carefully cut the avocado in half, being careful to go around the pit as to not cut himself. It was then time to see if he could get the pit out without reaching back for the knife.
He said as a result, he has been using a knife to get the pit out of the avocado by gently hitting it with the sharp side before twisting to get the pit out.

“Let’s try this one,” he said as he got the avocado half with the pit and carefully started pressing on the skin to get the pit out. And within a second of pushing, the pit popped out without effort and landed in the bin on the floor below.
“Avo pitted,” he said after looking down at the avocado in disbelief. “No scary knifes. That works. Thanks Nats.”
Several people soon took to the comment section, as many viewers were amazed by the results of the hack. One person commented: “Now that’s a useful tip.”
Someone else shared: “So you can open an Avocado without a knife too. You gently squeezed it between your palm edge on your thumb side. It will slip from the stem down.”
“I wish I’d see this before I spent several frustrating minutes trying to dig the pip out of an avocado with a teaspoon, this evening,” a third person said.
However, not everyone was impressed, as someone else said: “I don’t see how this is better.”
