The next Subway Surfers game comes out in February
Subway Surfers City, a follow-up to the popular endless runner mobile game / sludge content star Subway Surfers, will be launching on February 26th on iOS and Android, with preregistration open now.
“Building upon the original title, Subway Surfers City brings players home from the franchise’s World Tour and into the heart of the Subway Surfers universe: Subway City,” according to a press release. “The modern multicultural metropolis features four distinct districts for players to unlock and race through, including The Docks, Southline, Sunrise Blvd, and Delorean Park. The game will also introduce fresh content each Season, including additional neighborhoods of the city to explore, characters, outfits, and hoverboards.”
In addition to the new locations and content, the game adds mechanics like speed pads, a stomp move, and a bouncy shield. You’ll also be able to unlock three modes, including a Classic Endless mode, a City Tour mode with levels and missions, and an Events mode with a rotation of “finite runs and trials.”
The original Subway Surfers launched in 2012 and has surpassed 4.5 billion lifetime downloads, according to developer SYBO. It has a “steady average” of “100 to 150 million monthly active players.” SYBO also released an Apple Arcade-exclusive spinoff called Subway Surfers Tag.
