Iran warns Trump of ‘war with Islamic world’ if he attacks Khamenei | World | News

Iran has warned Donald Trump of war with the “Islamic world” if he attacks Tehran’s dictator Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

A message from the Parliament’s National Security Commission of Iran read: “Any assault on the Supreme Leader is tantamount to declaring war on the entire Islamic world and we must await the issuance of a jihad decree by Islamic scholars and the response of Islam’s soldiers worldwide.” Last week, tension was high between the two countries as Iranian state TV aired a threat to kill Donald Trump.

This came after US officals cliamed Donald Trump was likely to launch a strike on Iran. The US was reported to have evacuated troops from its largest base in the Middle East, amid fears the Iranian regime could retaliate.

Iran issued a grisly threat against President Trump on Wednesday, broadcasting a picture of the commander-in-chief during the 2024 Butler, Pa., rally assassination attempt — with the words “This time it will not miss the target,” The New York Post reported.

The warning was aired on Iranian state-run TV and marked Tehran’s most direct threat yet against Trump, following his repeated threats that the US will strike the country if the regime’s brutal crackdown on anti-government protesters does not stop, the newspaper also wrote.

Last week, NBC reported that hundreds of troops were being moved from Qatar’s al Udeid Air Base to other bases in the Middle East. Sources told the broadcaster that this is to put them out of harm’s way, in case Iran decides to retaliate against an American attack.

The US President has recently also branded Iran the “worst place to live anywhere in the world”, accusing its ageing leadership of plunging the nation into chaos, fear, and bloodshed.

Trump blamed Iran’s rulers for the deaths of thousands during weeks of violent unrest, saying the regime had responded to protests with brutality rather than reform.

Khamenei replied by claiming Iran, which has been rocked by its worst internal crisis in decades, holds Trump responsible for what he described as the “casualties, destruction, and lies” seen across Tehran during the past three weeks of unrest.

Human rights activists say the official death toll in the capital has now reached 3,090, though they warn the true figure could be far higher, with some estimates suggesting it may be closer to 12,000.
