Concerns have been expressed about Donald Trump’s cognitive health after a rambling 104-minute speech to celebrate his first year in office. The speech covered a wide range of topics, from the shooting of a Minnesota protester by an ICE agent to his high pain threshold and his lack of a Nobel Peace Prize.

However, many commentators have raised concerns about the incoherent nature of his speech, with the US President seeming to go off topic regularly in the mammoth press conference. Speaking about his failure to win the Nobel Peace Prize, Trump lambasted Norway for not acknowledging the “eight plus” wars that he believes he helped end. He told reporters: “I should’ve gotten the Nobel Prize for each war, but I don’t say that. I saved millions and millions of people.

“And don’t let anybody tell you that Norway doesn’t control the shots, ok? It’s in Norway. Norway control the shots. It’s a joke.

“They lost such prestige. That’s why I have such respect for Maria doing what she did. She said, ‘I don’t deserve the Nobel Prize. He does.'”

On the shooting of a Renee Good in Minnesota, the president doubled down on unproven claims that protesters were paid agitators.

He said: “When she was shot, there was another woman that was screaming ‘Shame. Shame Shame Shame.’ So loud.

“Like a professional opera singer. She was so loud. And so professional. She wasn’t a woman that was hurt like, ‘Oh my heart is injured.’ She was a professional.”

In a strange twist, Trump focused on the father Good, who, according to reports, voted for the US President in the 2024 election, with Trump adding that he hoped that the grieving father was still a “tremendous Trump fan”.

The speech was widely ridiculed, with many commenting on the incoherent nature of Trump’s delivery and the ire directed towards his political rivals.

Ex-GOP Congressman Joe Walsh described the US leader as dangerous to America and the world.

He said: “The truth is that Donald Trump has ALWAYS been a pathological liar and a psychopath. The problem now is he’s a pathological liar and a psychopath who turns 80 in June and is clearly losing it upstairs.

“And that’s a really f***ing dangerous thing for America & the entire world.”

On fears for the president’s health, Rory Bremner said: “Trump is declining in front of our eyes. rambling. Making stuff up, exaggerating, rehearsing his grievances, making shooting of Renee Good all about him (“her dad loves me”)… extraordinary.”

An account on X under the name Red Collective added: “If you’re not watching the Trump press conference now and questioning his literal sanity, you should question your own.

“It is incredible to see a sitting US President rabidly rambling in front of the world’s media. 20 minutes in and he’s not said a coherent, or true, sentence.”
