Fox News grinds to screeching halt for major Donald Trump announcement | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Fox News was interrupted for a breaking update about Donald Trump, who took to Truth Social today (Wednesday, January 21) to state that a “framework of a future deal” has been reached on Greenland following a meeting with NATO’s Secretary General. The outburst comes just days after the US President threatened to charge a 10 per cent tariff from February 1 “on any and all goods” sent from some countries – including the UK – to the US. He said the figure would increase to 25 per cent from June 1 until a deal on Greenland was reached. However, he’s now made a dramatic U-turn, which ground Fox News to a screeching halt. The American news show’s host said: “Breaking right now out of Switzerland is new information from Donald Trump about Greenland.”

He then read Trump’s post aloud in full, which says: “Based upon a very productive meeting that I have had with the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, we have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region.

“This solution, if consummated, will be a great one for the United States of America and all NATO Nations.

“Based upon this understanding, I will not be imposing the tariffs that were scheduled to go into effect on February 1st.

“Additional discussions are being held concerning The Golden Dome as it pertains to Greenland. Further information will be made available as discussions progress.

“Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and various others, as needed, will be responsible for the negotiations – they will report directly to me. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Viewers took to the comments section, with one writing: “Trump dropped his threat to impose tariffs on European countries. He got a lot of threats that he has to drop. The world is not a game.”

Another added: “Tariffs on pause, talks on. Greenland just went from punchline to bargaining chip, and NATO is now part of the room. This looks less like chaos and more like leverage doing its job.”
