Alex Honnold Taipei 101 LIVE: Skyscraper Live star admits ‘he may die’ in Netflix attempt | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Alex Honnold is gearing up for one of the most dangerous challenges of his career: attempting a free solo climb—without any ropes or protective gear—on Taipei 101, one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world. The 40‑year‑old climber, already famous for pushing the limits of what’s possible on sheer rock faces, plans to scale the 1,667‑foot tower in Taiwan’s capital.

In an interview with CNN before the event, which will be broadcast live on Netflix at 1am on Saturday, Honnold acknowledged the extreme risk involved, openly stating that a fall from such a height would almost certainly be fatal. He said: “If something happens, I would die, though actually, on this particular building, that’s not even totally true because there are balconies every few floors. The geometry of the building, the shape of the building is such that you actually could fall in tons of places and not actually die, which makes it in some ways safer than a lot of rock-climbing objectives.”
