France: Horror as two dead babies found in freezer in ‘cursed village’ | World | News
Two dead babies have been found in the freezer of a home in a “cursed village” as police launch a huge investigation.
As reported by French press agency AFP, a man contacted the police on Tuesday after discovering the body of a newborn baby in a freezer at his home in Aillevillers-et-Lyaumont, a town in Haute-Saône on the border of the Vosges. At the scene, police discovered the body of another baby. A woman was arrested on Wednesday around 1am in Boulogne-Billancourt, in the Paris region.
The bodies of the two babies were discovered in the same village where a man brutally gunned down his own nephew back in 2014. The connection between the woman and children is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
The mayor of Aillevillers-et-Lyaumont, Jean-Claude Tramesel, told AFP that the police had contacted him to inform him that they were going to block the street on Tuesday from 6pm and all night. “This is a small village of 1,500 inhabitants. We always think that these kinds of incidents happen to other people… We are stunned,” he told the press agency.
Prosecutor Cédric Logelin announced a press conference at 6.30pm “dedicated to the proceedings opened following the discovery in Aillevillers-et-Lyaumont of the body of an infant and a bag that could contain a second one”.
One resident spoke of “a cursed village”, referring to a murder committed in 2014.
