Two of the main rail operators serving Goppenstein — BLS AG and Swiss Federal Railways — say service restrictions will remain in place until at least 5.30am tomorrow.
BLS said on its website: “Rail traffic on the Frutigen – Brig line is interrupted between Goppenstein and Brig. An avalanche is the cause. The RE1 line is affected. Delays and cancellations are to be expected. The restriction lasts at least until 17.02.2026, 05:30. Passengers between Goppenstein, Bahnhof and Visp, Bahnhof Süd and vice versa use replacement buses (EV).”
SBB said: “Rail traffic on the Frutigen-Brig line is interrupted between Goppenstein and Brig due to an avalanche. The disruption will last at least until 5:30am on February 17, 2026. The RE1 line is affected. Delays and cancellations are expected.”
