The Kanlaon Volcano in the Philippines is experiencing an “ongoing explosive eruption”, with ash spewing high into the sky.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported an “ongoing explosive eruption” at Kanlaon Volcano in the Negros Island Region on late Thursday afternoon, the Manila Standard reported. The volcano is located approximately 30km (19 mi) southeast of Bacolod, the capital and most populous city of Negros Occidental. 

The eruption “generated a dark grey plume that rose 2,000 meters above the crater”.
