Man Utd next manager twist as Xavi update emerges after statement | Football | Sport

Former Barcelona boss Xavi is reportedly in the running to become Morocco’s new manager, despite their current coach still holding the position. The Spaniard has been jobless since his departure from Camp Nou back in 2024.

Spanish publication Marca suggests that Xavi is among the frontrunners for the position should the country decide on a change. However, convincing him to accept the role could prove challenging for Morocco.

Reports indicate that Xavi prefers to join a project from its inception rather than midway through. Under Regragui’s guidance, Morocco reached the final of the recent African Cup of Nations and the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar four years ago.

They’ve been paired with Brazil, Scotland and Haiti in the forthcoming competition hosted across the USA, Canada and Mexico. Regarding Xavi, he has consistently expressed his ambition to secure further major silverware in his next managerial role.

In comments made last year, he stated: “I don’t have anything established in my future, I have an open mind. Why not manage another La Liga side? I’m open to listening to offers. I’m looking for an exciting project and I have the ambition to win titles. That’s my goal.

“I want my players to have fun, perform an attractive football style for their fans and finally to win trophies. I want to win the Champions League, the Euros, the World Cup.”

Additionally, Xavi has highlighted his aspiration to potentially manage in England during his career. In an interview with The Athletic, he remarked: “I’d love to work in the Premier League because I love the passion there.”
