‘I went to local charity shop and struck gold when spotting £13 item’

Shopping second-hand isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. It can be laborious, time-consuming but above all, immensely rewarding as you’re able to contribute money to a charity of your choice.

Frequently, browsing in your local charity shop could reward you in ways you never anticipated. Whether you’re in search of a new wardrobe, or jewellery, it can astonish you what you uncover in a thrift store at times.

Now one individual was out at their local second-hand shop and chanced upon an item for £13. After snapping it up and bringing it home, many others couldn’t quite believe their fortune.

In a Reddit post, the person shared their find in the ‘Charity Shop Finds UK’ forum, where they purchased a Le Creuset skillet for £12.99.

Now if you’re familiar with the Dutch brand, you’ll know that most products do not come cheap.

Indeed, you could well be looking at over £100, or more, for some products. In this case, a cast iron is around the £99 mark.

The person wrote: “£12.99 Le Creuset skillet. Got lucky at my local charity shop.”

In the image, it also shows the pan in brand new condition as they shared the cast iron in action – when frying an egg.

Since the post was shared, it garnered 300 upvotes and dozens of comments from other shoppers who were astounded.

One said: “Wow what a catch!” Another added: “Gold!” While a third joked: “I’d pay that just for the egg.” Someone else commented: “That’s amazing! What a lucky find!”

Le Creuset is a brand cherished by numerous chefs and home cooks. Its satin black enamel interior elevates caramelisation to delicious new heights.

Described as a “kitchen hero”, the cast iron can be used on the hob, under the grill, or in the oven. It’s remarkably versatile for searing, browning and crisping.

Meanwhile this isn’t the first occasion someone secured an incredible bargain at their local charity shop.

Just recently, a charity shop worker revealed the one item people must stop donating.

Charity shop volunteer Vanessa, who posts online under the alias The Lit Spirit, took to TikTok to share a video spotlighting unviable and unsellable donations they frequently receive at the shop – makeup and beauty products.

She said: “This is just some of the stuff that we in charity shops have to deal with.

Vanessa then showed a box teeming with used eyeshadow palettes, lip balms, makeup sponges, lip pencils, eyeliners and more.
