Woods arrested after car flip crash for driving under the influence | Golf | Sport

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office in Florida say that Tiger Woods has been arrested and charged over driving under the influence. The 50-year-old has also been charged with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.

It comes after the golf star was involved in a car crash on Friday at around 2pm local time. Sheriff John Budensiek told reporters Woods showed “signs of impairment” after the incident.

The sheriff says a Land Rover vehicle, which Woods was driving, had tried to overtake a truck “at high speeds” before it swerved and rolled on to its side. He said: “When it came time for us to ask for a urinalysis test, he refused, and so he has been charged with DUI, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.”

Neither Woods or any other party involved in the incident reported injuries according to Budensiek. Pointing to how the crash occurred on a small, two-lane road, he added: “Had there been someone moving in the opposite direction, we would not be having a conversation saying there was no injuries.

“This could’ve been a lot worse.”
