Gabby Logan sends four-word message as BBC host cheers on giant son | Rugby | Sport
Gabby Logan spent part of her Easter weekend supporting her son, Logan, who had the whole family bursting with pride. The youngster, who stands at six feet and five inches tall, is a professional rugby player and helped Sale Sharks reach the last eight of the European Champions Cup. He played the final 20 minutes of their victory over Harlequins at Twickenham Stoop on Saturday afternoon.
Gabby was in the crowd as Reuben helped Sale across the line to book their place in the quarter-finals of Europe’s premier club competition. She was joined by her husband Kenny, a former Scotland international and Reuben’s father, and several others who were spotted beaming in pictures after the final whistle.
Reuben posed with friends and family after the match, with Gabby sharing an image of them together on Instagram. She captioned her post with just four words, writing: “Well that was fun.”
Reuben joined Sale last year, having previously spent time in the Wasps academy before playing for Northampton Saints and Championship side Cambridge.
He isn’t the only talented sportsperson in the family, though. His sister, Lois, is an equestrian and Gabby went to watch her in action at Wellington the following day.
She reposted a video of the occasion, writing: “Lovely way to spend Easter Sunday afternoon. Always love watching you in your happy place.”
She was forced to leave Match of the Day during a live broadcast the night before Yorath’s death was announced by his family.
She said: “I remember my dad asking me to get my mum a Mother’s Day card. He was living in Vancouver because he was playing there and we were due to follow him, so he hadn’t been home for a few months.
“He said: ‘It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, there’s some money next to my bed’. But it wasn’t Mother’s Day. It was Mother’s Day in North America, but it wasn’t in the UK.
“I remember getting off the phone and crying my eyes out because I remember thinking: ‘Oh my dad’s like, he doesn’t know’. And I thought he knew everything, and I think I missed him as well.
“I remember my mum telling me I had to stay off school and asking me: What’s wrong with you?’ and I said: ‘Oh I’ve got a bad stomach’, and I didn’t.
“I just was heartbroken for him because he felt so out of the loop and he didn’t feel like he was in our family anymore because he’s been living in another country.”
