Grand National 2026 runners and riders confirmed | Racing | Sport

The field for the 2026 Randox Grand National has been finalised. A full line-up of 34 horses, the maximum field size allowed, has been completed for the £1 million world-famous race that will take place at Aintree Racecourse on Saturday afternoon.

I Am Maximus is bidding to become the first horse to carry top weight to victory since triple winner Red Rum in the 1970s. While Nick Rockett will attempt to emulate Tiger Roll’s remarkable back-to-back victories achieved in 2018 and 2019. The only other horse to achieve that feat was Red Rum.

McManus is chasing a record fourth victory in the race and has leading contenders Iroko and Jagwar — both trained by Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero — among his hopefuls. Conor King’s potential first-ever runner in the Aintree marathon, novice Oscars Brother, has also made the cut.

The Jonjo and AJ O’Neill-trained Johnnywho, who also carries the famous green and gold colours of McManus, is tipped to run well following his Cheltenham Festival victory over Jagwar in the Ultima Handicap Chase last month.

Gordon Elliott, who has also trained three National winners, has five entries with Gerri Colombe, Firefox and Favori De Champdou – the beaten favourite in the Cross Country Chase at the Cheltenham Festival – towards the top of the weights. Another of Elliott’s stable, Pied Piper, is currently 35th on the list and will get a run if one more horse withdraws.
