Man City’s Erling Haaland reacts to Man Utd defeat in just two words | Football | Sport
Erling Haaland reacted to Manchester United’s loss to Leeds United with a two-word message on social media. Noah Okafor netted both goals for the visitors, while Lisandro Martinez was also sent off. Casemiro grabbed one back, but it proved insufficient to alter the result, with United enduring just their second loss under Michael Carrick.
Following the match, Manchester City forward Haaland posted on Snapchat, sharing an image of Okafor at full-time accompanied by the caption: “Get in.” The striker, who was born in Leeds, seems to be celebrating the victory of the club his father Alf-Inge previously represented. The Whites secured their first league triumph at Old Trafford since 1981.
Okafor appeared to become somewhat overexcited as he celebrated, swearing into the TV camera. As the camera zoomed in on him, the Switzerland international shouted: “Let’s go! For f****’s sake, come on!”
The loss leaves United third, but they are now level on 55 points with Aston Villa, who drew 1-1 at Nottingham Forest on Sunday. It also means they have failed to widen the gap between themselves and sixth-placed Chelsea in the battle for Champions League football.
Five Premier League clubs are set to secure automatic qualification for the Champions League, though the division could earn a sixth spot should Aston Villa finish fifth and claim the Europa League trophy.
Speaking after the match, United interim head coach Carrick said: “We didn’t start the game particularly well. We obviously conceded when Leny Yoro gets a forearm smash in the back of the head and they score the first goal.
“They didn’t decide to overturn that decision. That was a big moment in the game. We didn’t quite have the rhythm, we didn’t click, we had some moments but it wasn’t quite there for large parts of the first half.
“But second half, I thought the boys the way they went about it, stayed positive and fought to get something out of it after another shocking, shocking decision to send [Lisandro Martinez] off.
“Two games in a row we’ve had decisions like that go against us but that one was one of the worst I’ve seen.”
Meanwhile, City sealed a crucial victory over Chelsea after Arsenal‘s 2-1 home defeat to Bournemouth. They trail Arsenal by just six points, although they possess a game in hand and will welcome Mikel Arteta‘s side to the Etihad next weekend in what promises to be a potential title decider.
