State Pension and benefit payment dates May 2026 – full list | Personal Finance | Finance

Those due a State Pension or benefit payment at the start of next month could find the money arrives earlier than expected due to an upcoming bank holiday.

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has confirmed that some scheduled payments due on Monday, May 4 will be paid ahead of time, while the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is expected to follow a similar revised payment schedule. This is because DWP offices and phone lines will be closed over the bank holiday and payments are typically processed when all services are operational, including webchat and Jobcentre Plus offices.

Payments including State Pension, Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Child Benefits, Adult Disability Payment (ADP) and Attendance Allowance due on Monday, May 4 will land in bank accounts on Friday, May 1.

A second bank holiday in May – on Monday, May 25 – will also see scheduled payments issued early on Friday, May 22.

Below is a full list of DWP, HMRC and Social Security Scotland payments which could be affected by the May bank holidays. We will update this list once DWP has confirmed changes to scheduled payments, reports the Daily Record.

It’s important to be aware that if your upcoming payment does not fall on either of the bank holiday dates – May 4 or May 25 – it will be issued as normal.
