Marcus Rashford ‘ready to make Man Utd U-turn’ and hand INEOS problem | Football | Sport

Barcelona boast a clause in Rashford’s contract that will allow them to make the deal permanent for a fee of £26million, should they trigger it before June 15. However, there is a growing feeling that Barcelona will pass up on the initial clause and look to negotiate a different deal with United altogether.

That’s according to BBC Sport, who report United have no interest in sitting down at the negotiating table with Barcelona. As far as United’s transfer bigwigs are concerned, the framework for making the deal permanent was put in place when Rashford left for Barcelona as part of a season-long loan.

If a deal for Rashford wasn’t to be completed before June 30 though, it would mean the winger returns to Old Trafford and would automatically become one of their highest earners – a situation INEOS and co. are keen to avoid. Several clubs are said to be interested in Rashford’s services, but finding a suitor to cover his wages might prove more difficult.

Ratcliffe has previously lambasted the amount of money United are spending on the wages of players who are no longer at the club. Another player in that boat is forgotten goalkeeper, Andre Onana.

He’s spent the current campaign out on loan at Turkish side Trabzonspor, with claims he’s expecting to return to United training at the end of the season. It’s suggested Onana is keen to take part in the club’s pre-season programme, with hopes of impressing the new manager – whoever that might be – and carving out a future at Old Trafford.

It appears unlikely that Onana will be successful in his endeavour, given Senne Lammens has impressed since assuming the No.1 spot earlier this season. However, with time left on his contract, if the new boss has other ideas, it could force United into sanctioning yet another loan.
