The full 21-horse field has been confirmed for the Scottish Grand National, set to take place on Saturday. English Grand National-winning trainer Willie Mullins has raised a few eyebrows by fielding just a single runner in the race. He will be hoping to add to his success with I Am Maximus last weekend, this time with Road To Home. Mullins has claimed victory at the event for the past two consecutive years, courtesy of Macdermott and Captain Cody.
The market leader for the Ayr contest is King Of Answers, trained by the partnership of Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore. Other prominent contenders include Kim Roque, trained by Joseph O’Brien, and Quebecois, who impressed with a runner-up finish at Cheltenham.
Owner JP McManus is chasing further glory on the back of I Am Maximus’s triumph, with Montregard representing his colours in the race.
The final field for the Scottish Grand National was officially declared on Thursday morning. Here is a full rundown of the confirmed runners.
