Trump unleashes against Democrats over Iran war – ‘Straightening out this mess!’ | World | News
Donald Trump has launched a furious attack against the Democrats over the Iran war, claiming he is having to straighten out the mess that other Presidents let happen”. The US President took to Truth Social on Monday evening, to accuse the Democrats of ‘doing everything possible to hurt’ America’s postion ‘with respect to Iran’.
Trump listed the length of several major conflicts, including World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Iraq War, before accusing Democrats of falsely claiming he had promised to defeat Iran within six weeks. He argued the operation had moved “much faster” from a “military standpoint”. He added: “I’m not going to let them rush the United States into making a Deal that is not as good as it could have been. I read the Fake News saying that I am under ‘pressure’ to make a Deal. THIS IS NOT TRUE! I am under no pressure whatsoever, although, it will all happen, relatively quickly!”
Trump said time was not an issue and argued previous presidents had failed to deal with Iran properly over the past 47 years because they lacked the courage to act.
He said the current operation was being carried out correctly and claimed Democrats were trying to downplay what he described as the success of the US military and his administration.
Trump added that the operation was being executed in a similar way to Venezuela, but on a much larger and more complex scale.
He said: “This is being perfectly executed, on the scale of Venezuela, just a bigger, more complex operation.
“The result will be the same. In my First Term, I built the Greatest Military our Country has ever seen, including adding Space Force.
“In my Second Term, I am properly and judiciously using our Military to solve problems left to us by others of far less understanding or competence. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
The New York Times recently reported that may be preparing to make a major concession to Iran by allowing it to resume enriching uranium in 10 years.
It also reported that Trump became angry with his generals during discussions over the conflict.
According to a new report released by the Wall Street Journal, Trump allegedly “screamed at aides for hours” following the downing of an American jet earlier this month.
An official told the US newspaper: “Aides kept the president out of the room as they got minute-by-minute updates because they believed his impatience wouldn’t be helpful.”
Trump said in a previous post that the agreement his administration is trying to secure with Iran would be much stronger than the nuclear deal reached under Barack Obama in 2015, which he called a “guaranteed road to a nuclear weapon.”
The previous deal was signed by President Obama and banned Iran from enriching uranium above civilian levels for 15 years.
The next phase of peace talks looked uncertain after Iran said it had “no plans” for a new round of talks.
A senior Iranian official has since told the Reuters news agency that Tehran is “positively reviewing” its participation in potential negotiations, however stressed that no final decision has been made.
