Liverpool will reportedly be without Alexander Isak for their Premier League clash against Manchester United this weekend. The Anfield outfit will travel to Old Trafford to face the Red Devils as the bitter rivals go head-to-head in the battle to qualify for the Champions League.

Isak joined Liverpool last summer in a deal reportedly worth £125million, but has struggled with injuries during his debut season on Merseyside.

The Sweden international only returned to the pitch in April following a four-month spell on the sidelines with a fractured fibula and an ankle injury, which forced him to undergo surgery before making a full recovery.

However, The Sun have reported that Isak is not expected to feature for Liverpool for the clash against United due to a fresh injury concern.

The report claims that Isak has been ruled out for the trip to Old Trafford with a groin injury, with the issue said to have been suffered during training this week.

If Isak is not available for Liverpool, it leaves Reds head coach Arne Slot without a senior centre forward in the squad that will take on United in the crucial fixture.

Summer signing Hugo Ekitike is already on the sidelines after suffering a ruptured Achilles injury last month, while there will also be no Mohamed Salah, who is recovering from a muscle injury he suffered last week against Crystal Palace.

Liverpool also face a wait to discover if Alisson Becker will be available to face United, with second-choice goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili still sidelined.

“Alisson hasn’t trained with us yet, I will find out today if he can today or start of next week,” Slot said. “Very close but we don’t take risks.

“We don’t want to do that with any player. There’s a difference between a keeper and a player, they need to run more.

“So if the issue with an outfield player is when they are out it is the fitness levels, so there is a different issue with goalkeepers.”

Milos Kerkez also emerged as an injury doubt for Liverpool, but Slot has stated that he hopes to have the defender in training ahead of the trip to Old Trafford.

“Milos has had some niggles,” said Slot. “He left the training pitch the day before yesterday but I expect him to train either today or tomorrow.”

Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni and Wataru Endo are also unavailable for Liverpool with long-term injuries.
