Boots knocks £22 off ‘divine’ perfume in limited time deal
This week at Boots Ghost’s Sweetheart Always has been slashed to half price as the beauty retailer’s ‘Spritz of the Week’. The perfume would usually cost £44 for a 50ml bottle but has dropped down to £22 for one week only.
It opens up bright with dewy pear, pink pepper and bergamot oil before deepening to a sweet heart of peach flower, peony and caramel. The base is where we can find gourmand classic notes of vanilla, amber and musk
The result is something ‘sweet and elegant’ that’s said to have impressive longevity and leaves shoppers smelling ‘divine’.
The vanilla note is quite prominent with shoppers comparing it to Kayali’s cult favourite Vanilla 28 (from £28, Cult Beauty) has drawn comparisons from perfume fans who have tried both. There isn’t a massive amount of overlap of the notes in each scent
Ariana Grande’s Mod Vanilla (£35, LookFantastic) has also been mentioned as quite similar despite not having many shared notes. It gives us the impression that the vanilla note in this Ghost scent is very prominent as it’s the same similarity with the other perfumes it’s drawing comparisons towards.
While there aren’t many reviews for the perfume on Boots’ website, over on Superdrug the Ghost scent has pulled in an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 from across 47 reviews. One shopper wrote: “I have to say, Ghost know how to make good perfumes. This one in particular is one of my favourites, it’s such a sweet, elegant scent. You’re getting notes of vanilla, caramel, peach blossom, pear and peony that give it that sweet smell – definitely one that leaves a scent trail!”
Even the more negative reviews are quite positive, one shopper wrote in a four-star review: “Love the smell of this, had so many compliments. Good price however it doesn’t last that long may 7-8 hours.”
Seven hours of perfume wear would actually be considered quite good, with popular perfumes usually lasting from around three hours. To get it to last longer we’d recommend applying it to each pulse point and pairing it with a complementary lotion.
Another shopper said they found a little of the perfume lasted all day, writing: “This scent is really beautiful and a little goes a really long way. I only used a small amount and could smell it all day long. I got so many compliments on days I was wearing. It is definitely one of them fragrances that you can wear daily and smell divine all day.”
The most enthusiastic reviewer on Superdrug praised the bottle, scent and longevity. It was the ‘most liked’ review, showing that shoppers have found it helpful. It says: “Before even spraying it, I instantly fell in love with the bottle’s design. I was also pleased with the impressive atomiser design because it gives a fine mist but with a generous spray so the fragrance distributes smoothly across the skin without feeling heavy.
“Ghost Sweetheart Always opens with a sweet pear note that smells soft, juicy and slightly gourmand which I love. Upon smelling the first spritz, I would describe a playful freshness that feels easy to wear. As the scent settles the middle notes come through with bergamot adding brightness and hints of pink pepper giving a lively uplift. For me, this combination creates a lovely balance between sweet, fresh and lightly vibrant without ever becoming overpowering.
“The dry down is warm, creamy and comforting, with vanilla coming through gently rather than “sickly sweet”. It wraps the earlier notes in a soft sweetness that feels elegant. Moreover, I was genuinely impressed with the longevity. On my skin it lasted around six to seven hours, and I could still smell it on my clothes the next day.”
They went on to add that the scent is great for use year round, writing: “I think this fragrance suits all seasons and has an elegant yet approachable feel that works for both daytime and evenings. It is the sort of perfume you can wear to work or for a casual day out and also formal events because it fits so many moods.”
