The synopsis on Rotten Tomatoes reads: “Sam Wheat (Patrick Swayze) is a banker, Molly Jensen (Demi Moore) is an artist, and the two are madly in love. However, when Sam is murdered by friend and corrupt business partner Carl Bruner (Tony Goldwyn) over a shady business deal, he is left to roam the earth as a powerless spirit

“When he learns of Carl’s betrayal, Sam must seek the help of psychic Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Goldberg) to set things right and protect Molly from Carl and his goons.”

The 1990 film has an 80% score on the film review website, with numerous positive reviews from critics and fans.

One fan, who described it as an “underrated gem” said that the film is a “combination of a great concept with career best performances from Goldberg and Swayze” that made it a “worthy modern classic”.

In fact, the film classic was repeated throughout the thousands of reviews.

One person wrote: ”Classic! One of the best movies of all time! A must see!!”

Another said: “Timeless Classic Movie About Love With Great Performances By The Actors/Actress.”

A third: “A classic. It stands the test of time.”

Other fans also spoke about how the film, released nearly four decades ago, remains timeless.

“It was my favourite movie as a kid, still holds up 30 years later,” one said.

Another wrote: “I just saw this again after a few decades and feared I might find it cheesy and dated, but it is neither. It’s a great drama, with real emotion and humour, and it has stood up well. Whoopi Goldberg is terrific.”

The last day to watch Ghost on Netflix is June 4.
