A mum was left stunned after discovering a neighbour had apparently watched her park her car before taking what she describes as an unusual and “creepy” next step. Emily Potts had just returned from grabbing a coffee when she checked the post and found the bizarre message waiting for her. The 35-year-old later shared footage from her Ring doorbell showing the moment she opened the postcard and read it aloud to her partner in disbelief.
The card, decorated with images of canals and historic buildings from Nantwich, Cheshire, contained a blunt complaint about her vehicle and the way it had been left on the street. It read: “would you consider parking your massive ugly car a bit less selfishly? Show some consideration for your neighbours”. The anonymous sender had even included a hand-drawn sketch attempting to demonstrate how Emily should — and should not — position her car.

Emily said the whole thing left her more baffled than upset, especially because the person had apparently gone to the trouble of buying a stamp and posting the complaint rather than speaking to her directly.
“We were totally taken aback really. Why would anyone bother and go to such lengths to be weird?” she said.
The mum-of-two believes the sender must have seen exactly where she parked before tracking down which house she lived in.
She said: “They must’ve watched me park and walk to my house to know which house I came from. I would’ve had the kids with me as well so it’s a bit creepy really.”
Emily, who works as a wedding photographer, admitted parking can sometimes be difficult on the road but insisted she has never intentionally blocked anyone in or caused problems for neighbours.

“I always try to park as nicely as I can because it’s difficult for everybody on that road,” she explained.
“Maybe I did park badly that day, it’s wedding season so it’s a busy time at the moment. You never know, maybe I did have a bad day and park selfishly.”
Despite that, she said she could not understand why someone felt the situation “required a postcard”.
“I don’t think I would’ve ever parked quite so selfishly that it required a postcard,” she added.
Although the message initially caught her off guard, Emily and her partner eventually saw the funny side — particularly the crude diagram attached to the complaint.
“[The drawing] was so funny. It took me a while to understand what the problem was from that doodle,” she said.

Rather than throwing the postcard away, Emily has decided to keep it as a joke souvenir. She has even covered it in stickers reading “be a nice woman” and plans to display it inside her car.
After sharing the story online, Emily said many people found the situation equally bizarre, with some questioning why the neighbour did not simply knock on the door instead.
Now, after parking on the same public road for five years without complaints, she hopes the incident encourages people to deal with frustrations more openly.
“Just be normal and have a nice conversation and introduce yourself to your neighbours and be nice to them,” she said.
“Just have an open dialogue.”
