EFL release major Spygate statement as plans for Southampton appeal announced | Football | Sport
The EFL have confirmed Saturday’s play-off final between Hull City and Middlesbrough will go ahead at 3:30pm, pending a successful appeal from Southampton. Saints were kicked out of the Wembley showpiece after being found to have spied on semi-final opponents Middlesbrough, as well as two other Championship rivals earlier in the season.
Issuing an update on social media, the EFL said: “Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final between Hull City and Middlesbrough will kick-off at 15:30. Should the outcome of the ongoing appeal process result in the Final being contested by Hull City and Southampton, the kick-off time for the fixture will remain at 16:30.”
