Nationwide issues update over changes to customer accounts | Personal Finance | Finance
Nationwide Building Society has clarified its policies after a question from a member. The update came after the account holder sent in a query about their online account.
Posting on social media, the customer said they had just recently applied for a FlexAccount, one of the current accounts that Nationwide provides. They said: “It was approved and account was opened but I can’t see it on my app.
“I am an existing customer and I’m really concerned. Please help.” Nationwide responded to set out the standard rules when it comes to launching another account like this.
The group said: “New accounts can take up to five working days to appear alongside your existing accounts online. If it has been longer than this, please give us a call on 03457 302011, so we can look into this further for you.”
The customer replied to explain they had only opened the account that morning, so they would wait a while to see if their online account was eventually updated. Now is a good time to think about switching your current account to Nationwide, as you could get some bonus cash.
Bonus payments on offer
The mutual has launched a switching offer, paying £175 if you’ll switch from a non-Nationwide provider to a new or existing FlexDirect, FlexAccount or FlexPlus account. You must carry out a full switch through the Current Account Switch Service, including closing your old account.
Customers must complete the switch within 28 days. Another stipulation to cash in the offer is you must pay in at least £1,000 and make one debit card payment from the switched-to account.
This has to be done within 31 days of either your new account opening or of when you applied to switch to an existing account. Once you have done all the necessaries, Nationwide will pay the £175 into the account you have switched into.
The amount will be paid into the account within 10 days of you completing all the steps. Your account must be open when the payment is made. The payment will show on your statement as ‘Switching Offer’.
Nationwide has also announced it will be paying a £100 bonus to over four million members this year, through its Fairer Share scheme. This is the fourth round of the payment, as there has previously been a £100 payment during each of the past three years.
You need to have a current account plus either a qualifying savings account or mortgage with Nationwide to get the payment.
