Man Utd news: £60m star ‘wants transfer’ as Rashford hit with blow | Football | Sport

Rashford spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Barcelona, but questions persist over whether the Catalan side will trigger their £26m option. The England international is among several high earners who could exit Old Trafford over the summer, with Casemiro and Jadon Sancho already set to leave at the end of June.

Casemiro’s fellow Brazil international Ederson looks to be heading to Old Trafford, while Manuel Ugarte’s situation also remains unresolved. This could create space for at least one fresh central midfielder as Carrick’s side prepare to handle at least eight additional fixtures next term.

With the World Cup commencing in a fortnight’s time, some dealings may need to be delayed. There’s still opportunity for certain activity, however, and here are our latest updates on the potential arrivals and exits.

Fernandes’ transfer preference

Manchester United are Mateus Fernandes’ ‘first pick’ for a summer transfer, according to The i. The Portugal international is poised to depart West Ham as the London outfit seek to generate funds following relegation from the Premier League.

Fernandes, who cost the Hammers £42million from Southampton in 2025, is expected to fetch around £60m. Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with the midfielder, though United are reportedly confident of securing his signature.

The 21-year-old made his senior international bow in the spring during a friendly against the United States, coming off the bench to replace United skipper Bruno Fernandes. He was, however, left out of Roberto Martinez’s World Cup squad.

Barcelona push ahead with Gordon move

Barcelona are edging closer to securing Anthony Gordon, casting doubt over whether Marcus Rashford will feature prominently at Spotify Camp Nou next season. The Newcastle winger is on the verge of completing a £69.3m switch to Catalunya.

Gordon, much like Rashford, is capable of operating across the forward line and has demonstrated this for both his club and England’s Under-21s. Both players are included in the senior England squad for the World Cup, where they will be competing fiercely for a starting berth on the left flank.

United and Rashford are now reportedly heading for pivotal talks that could yet result in him remaining at Old Trafford. A switch to a Premier League rival has also been touted, however, with Arsenal and Tottenham mentioned as possible destinations.
