Iran issues horror threat to attack Israel as Trump’s ceasefire collapsing | World | News
Iran’s armed forces have threatened further action against Israel following strikes in Lebanon on Monday. The warning came from the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had instructed Israel’s military, together with Defence Minister Israel Katz, to strike targets in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district in response to what he described as repeated Hezbollah ceasefire violations and attacks on Israeli cities and citizens.
Ahead of the threatened strikes, the Israeli military also issued an evacuation warning for residents in parts of Beirut. In response, Major General Ali Abdollahi, commander of the headquarters, warned residents of northern Israel and military settlements in the occupied territories to leave the area if the threatened strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs were carried out. In a statement reported by Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, he said the warning was issued because of what he described as repeated Israeli violations of ceasefire agreements.
The statement comes as Israel continues its strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon, amid tensions over ceasefire efforts that Iran has said should also include its allies in the region.
The warning came as Lebanon accused Israel of carrying out a strike near a hospital in the southern city of Tyre.
According to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency, the attack targeted an intersection near Jabal Amel Hospital, hitting a nearby building and a car park and leaving several people wounded.
Footage released by Lebanon’s health ministry reportedly showed extensive damage inside the hospital, including debris-strewn wards, collapsed ceiling panels, shattered windows and blood on the floor.
Smoke was also seen rising from a fire in what appeared to be a heavily damaged adjacent car park.
Israel said the strikes were aimed at Hezbollah targets, accusing the group of repeatedly violating ceasefire agreements and carrying out attacks against Israeli cities and civilians.
Iran has repeatedly said that any ceasefire or broader agreement involving the United States should also address the conflict in Lebanon, where Hezbollah remains one of Tehran’s closest regional allies.
The latest hostilities mark another escalation in tensions between Israel and Hezbollah despite a fragile US-brokered ceasefire.
The developments also come as indirect negotiations between Washington and Tehran have gathered pace in recent weeks, with Iran insisting that any wider agreement must also address the conflict in Lebanon.
