Russia launches horror strikes on Ukraine | World | News

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a fire had broken out at an apartment block after debris from a nearby non-residential property – which was on fire – fell onto its roof.

Residents were reported to have been left trapped under rubble near the building, but it remains unclear if there were any casualties or fatalities.

Residents packed into subway stations with sleeping bags and camping gear to escape the attacks.

“In the Obolon district, cars are burning after being struck by falling missile debris. There are also fires at two locations in open areas, including one near a kindergarten,” Klitschko said on Telegram.

Earlier in the day, the country’s Air Force warned citizens of incoming ballistic missiles before the military urged Ukrainians to find shelter.

It also said Russia had attacked Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia hours after missiles were thought to have been launched towards the Ukraine from the Caspian Sea.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told the country on Monday that a “massive” strike from Russia could be inbound.

“Intelligence warnings regarding Russian strikes remain in effect. A massive strike is possible, they have prepared one.”

“Our defenders are ready 24/7 to the fullest extent possible with the supplies currently available.”

Russia days earlier told foreign nationals and diplomats to leave “as soon as possible” and warned civilians to stay clear of government and military buildings.

It is understood that the attacks are a response to a drone strike last week on a dormitory in Ukraine’s Russian-held Luhansk region.

Russia claimed the attack killed 21 people, though Ukraine denied carrying it out.
