Iceland announces major change to over-60s 10% discount deal | Personal Finance | Finance
A major supermarket chain has announced a huge discount for shoppers over the age of 60. Iceland Foods is encouraging shoppers aged over 60 to make the most of its 10% in-store discount, available every Tuesday from June 2.
The discount is available to all customers aged 60 and over in Iceland and The Food Warehouse stores across the UK and can be redeemed at the checkout simply by showing a valid ID. With household budgets continuing to feel the pressure, this weekly discount will offer valuable savings on everyday essentials, helping customers make their money go further on their regular shop. Bonus Club members can also enjoy an added reward from June 2, as those who scan their Bonus Club app or card at checkout will be in with the chance to win their entire shop, adding an extra incentive for loyal shoppers. One lucky Bonus Club member across the UK will be selected at random each week, for the rest of the year, to win their entire basket, or trolley, up to the value of £100, completely free of charge.
Terms and conditions apply. Customers simply need to scan their Bonus Club app or card when they pay in store to be entered into the draw.
An Iceland Foods spokesperson told the Express: “Our over-60s discount is one of the ways we continue to support our customers in communities across the UK.
“Saving 10% every Tuesday can make a real difference on a weekly shop, and for our Bonus Club members, we’re delighted to be offering the chance to win their entire weekly shop for free!”
This comes after Iceland announced a massive money-saving overhaul across 1,000 UK stores and online through its ‘Frozen Pledge’.
The retailer explained it was “packed with discounts, deals and money-saving promises after new research revealed more than two-thirds (69%) of Brits say they are worried about rising food prices, with four in 10 (40%) admitting they have skipped meals to save money on food shopping”.
Iceland said the Frozen Pledge has seen more than 200 frozen items reduced or included in special offers, marking one of Iceland’s most substantial customer savings schemes to date.
