England WON’T win the World Cup as Thomas Tuchel receives miserable ve | Football | Sport

England manager Thomas Tuchel has been told he will NOT become the first Three Lions boss since Sir Alf Ramsey to win the World Cup. Tuchel is gearing up to take charge of England at the World Cup in North America, with the 1966 champions set to get their campaign underway on Wednesday.

It begins in Texas against Croatia, with England also playing Ghana and Panama in the group stage. For the first time ever, the World Cup knockouts will begin at the round-of-32 stage, with England hoping to go all the way and lift the famous trophy in the final at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, July 19.

However, Express Sport readers don’t believe Tuchel will be able to end 60 years of hurt, with a whopping 84 per cent of those who voted saying England won’t win the World Cup. Only 13 per cent of those who voted in the poll had faith that England would get the job done, while the remaining three per cent said they were unsure what will happen.

Express Sport readers aren’t the only ones with that belief, given the New Zealand boss, Darren Bazeley, claimed they will need to improve if they’re going to be world champions. He remarked: “I think most countries, including England today, when they’re playing their first game, they want to get everybody good minutes, acclimatised, get the legs moving heading into the World Cup.

“England were good today, but they need to be better to go and win the World Cup than they were today, even though they won the game.”

England won the match 1-0, with Tuchel fielding two different teams for either half. Tuchel agreed with the New Zealand gaffer that things have to improve, with the ex-Chelsea boss saying: “I’m not super happy about it. I liked the second half more than the first half.

“I think we had more bite in the second half, were more aggressive on and off the ball, created a bit more. Some good half chances and some good penetrations into the box. We played more from our positions and that’s why we played with more speed.

“The first half we were out of positions and it was a bit too much freestyle. That slowed our game down and made it difficult for counter-press because we were not in the positions that we wanted to be when we started attacking, so that’s basically the story of the match.”
