Lewis Hamilton’s awkward response after F1 star mocked Kim Kardashian | F1 | Sport
Lewis Hamilton has issued an awkward response after Kimi Antonelli brutally mocked Kim Kardashian following this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix. Antonelli was the king of the principality this weekend, taking his first Monaco Grand Prix P1 with relative ease, having steered clear – quite literally – of the chaos unfolding behind him.
The Italian is in cruise control of the Drivers’ Championship standings, as he aims to become the youngest-ever Formula One world champion. In sharp contrast, his closest competitor is the 40-year-old Hamilton, who rolled back the years with an impressive P2 during Sunday’s race.
He had adoring eyes watching him from the grandstand, with new girlfriend Kardashian in attendance. However, the reality star upset motorsport fans by snubbing Martin Brundle during the grid walk, while she went viral for nabbing one of the driver’s towels to wipe her brow.
It turned out to be Antonelli’s, with the 19-year-old taking part in a jokey social media clip posted to the Mercedes account where he’s seen asking “where’s my towel”. Hamilton was asked about the clip during the pre-Barcelona press conference, with the Brit opting against seeing the funny side.
He was asked: “Kimi just sat in the press conference, he’s still looking for his towel from Monaco. Could you help him a little bit?
A confused Hamilton replied: “His towel?” Before the journalist added: “His towel which got took by Kim from Monaco.”
Either trying to save his new loved one’s face, or genuinely bemused the seven-time world champion added: “I don’t really know anything about it, so… [Laughs]”
Despite that, Hamilton remained upbeat when speaking about his Ferrari fortunes, stating no stone is being left unturned in pursuit of success. He remarked: “My goal coming to the team was to come in and observe, see if I can bring 20 years of experience, seven championships that I’ve won and experience and input that into an already great organisation and help them level up and that’s what I’m trying to do.
“So, I’m leaving no stone unturned. I told you last year how much work I was doing in the background to try and help the team navigate and improve and I’m finally starting to see the fruits of that.I think I went from a season in a car that I inherited that I had nothing to, no input to, to a car that I had input to.”
